Happy Jesus Day!
Merry Christmas, happy holidays, super duper Saturday, whatever you prefer, but it’s that time of year when gifts are given and joy is had. I know a lot of people HATE Christmas and DESPISE its supposed commercialism but FUCK THAT, I like getting gifts. I’m greedy and my parents appease this by giving me a good chunk of video games each year.
My haul from them this year composed of...

More like SLAUGHTERhouse!
I rented Splatterhouse and am currently playing through it. So far, after beating the second level, I can say that this game defines the idea of a ‘renter’ to me. Already I can see this game becoming incredibly tiring and overall not worth the effort. Sure the game is bloody as hell but that’s about it. OH! There’s also nudity. But you have to work for the nudity,...

America!! Fuck Yeah!!
I rarely play multiplayer games, there’s just something about the online environment that just completely turns me off. Maybe it’s due to the general attitude of other gamers, the annoying high pitched whines of the young or that I just suck. Maybe it’s all of those things? With this, the Call of Duty series has arguably become one hundred times more focused on the multiplayer...

Hit or miss
Fable 3, A miss. Someone tell me how a third generation game can be worse than the first? I was a huge fan of the first Fable game, I must have played 7+ files all the way through. And in their attempt to eliminate a menu system, they made something 100 times more annoying, some damn room I have to go to to change clothing and weapons. Because of this annoying room, I have yet to change my...

Oh my goodness! This is the game I am most excited for from the trailers shown at the VGA. I LOVED Oblivion. I played Oblivion about 50 times and I still find the world and atmosphere of the game to be absolutely irresistible. Skyrim hopefully will keep the magic of the world alive and I am hoping to be getting this game ASAP.
I love Oblivion. I loved The Shivering Isles. I am really excited for...

Submerging Castles
If I had such a reaction to a castle submerging under the sand this early in the game of Final Fantasy 3 I can’t imagine how I’ll be reacting later on in this thing. I only see it going up from here.
I also am enjoying Kefka as a villain already and I hear he is one of the better Final Fantasy villains out there. Hopefully better than the questionably femine Seymor from FFX.

Guillermo Del Toro is stepping into the world of video games and bringing in another addition to the horror genre. I don’t know much about this game but Del Toro said something along about scaring the shit out of the players.
Let’s hope this stays true because I am interested in another horror or survival horror game. They’re damn good, under appreciated and one of my favourite...

I don’t really know what else to say besides the amazingness of Portal. Portal 2 shall hopefully expand on this and make it that much better. It’ll be interesting to see how they take an original and awesome 2 hour game and turn it into a (hopefully) original and awesome 6-12 hour game.
Valve knows how to make good stuff. Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress 2 and everything else they make is...

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception’s trailer further expands upon the teaser I posted earlier in this blog. This game looks awesome and the game is going to be awesome. I know that is very hopeful and somewhat dumb for me to say but I really enjoyed Uncharted 2.
I hope this game has the same sort of spirit that the second one had and I also hope that this game features another sort of...

So after the Spike VGA awards there are a bunch of trailers, teasers and other stuff released unto the world. Basically the last quarter of 2011 is going to be a GREAT year for gaming.
Today I am going to post a bunch of videos that I really enjoy and look forward to. I’m starting off with Batman: Arkham City because, damn it, this game is going to be awesome. Arkham Asylum was a treat in...

Chrono Trigger?
I’m debating on playing through Chrono Trigger. I hear it’s a pretty damn good game and the little bit I’ve played before was really intriguing. The only downside is RPGs are games that I really have to focus on to play, I also juggle a lot of different games making playing it and focusing quite difficult.
Do I try and balance Chrono Trigger and some other games? I’m...

Kratos has grown tired of killing Gods...
…and will now resort to killing mortals. Kratos has been confirmed that he will be appearing in the Playstation 3 version of Mortal Kombat. Figured he’d have more fun and an easier time killing mortals this time around, I don’t blame him.
Hopefully this means there will be an exclusive in the 360 version as well, but who knows how that will play out. I just hope my beloved...

It's like Wipeout but with better hosts.
Dorito’s Crash Course is a surprisingly fun game. While playing it at last night with a bunch of my friends we all routinely stopped and remarked how we couldn’t believe that this game was available for free. Crash Course (presented by Doritos) is a platformer that compares much to the television shows Wipeout or MXC. The player plays as their avatar and tries to make it through 15...

Clever Girl
I recently discovered a website called Raptr. It’s like Last.fm except instead of scrobbling your time spent listening to music it keeps track of the games you played. You can put in your entire collection of video games from across all systems. You can rate, review and more.
I’ve died and gone to heaven. Hopefully the website stays this good upon its initial look and doesn’t...

Free Stuff is Always Nice
Doritos, the masterminds behind Dash of Destruction, seem to really care about creating free gaming possibilities for gamers. Doritos has released two new free XBLA games today. I am currently downloading both of them and I shall let you know how they play initially in the very near future.
One of them is called ‘Harms Way’ and it appears to be a racing shooter game with sniper...

Epic Mickey - Want
I had a Wii, it broke, it died, it gave itself into console heaven. I enjoyed the few games I played on it. For being a very weak console tech wise it had some great first party games. Now that my sister has a Wii I want to try and convince her to buy Epic Mickey for the Wii. The game looks really fun and it could be a nice kick in the nostalgic balls.
The Wii does have good games, there’s...

– Paul on Majora’s Mask.
Paul may not know this, but he just called me out. He probably had no intention of doing this, but it’s inevitable. He has challenged me and I will finally get my gamer card.
Luckily my roommate has the game so my goal is to beat it in the next semester.

I like my video games like I like my women: old.
I was bored last night and decided to take a slip back into memory lane. I tracked down a thing called an ‘emulator’ and then proceeded to track down a multiple amount of ‘roms’. These roms allowed me to access a bunch of games from my childhood. The games I acquired were Mega Man 2 for the GB, Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins and Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land. I also...

I have never beaten Majora's Mask
That’s right, I’m coming out and admitting it to the world. I have played A LOT of Majora’s Mask back in the day but I have never actually beaten the game. I understand if this takes away some of my gamer credibility, but hear me out on this one.
Two things that really terrified me in video games were time challenges and underwater portion. Majora’s Mask was essentially...

Mega Man Achievement Farming
My goal today is attempting to get the ‘No Coffee Break’ achievement for Mega Man 10. This achievement is clearing the entire game without using any energy, weapon or mystery tanks. I am not exactly sure if I can do this, it seems manageable, I’ll just need to focus and actually pay attention to the boss patterns.
If I do complete the achievement I will be holding a party....

Prototype
There was an article on Kotaku about rumours of a sequel to Prototype. They then questioned the worth of a sequel to the first game.
Well excuuuuuse me.
I understand the idea of opinions but as someone who really enjoyed running, flying and jumping around the city in the first game I gladly open my arms up for a possible sequel.
Screw you Kotaku, screw you.

Play Minerva's Den
The title pretty much explains itself.
I did not enjoy Bioshock 2 nearly as much as I did the first. The second felt like a more soulless entity compared to the first. There was not nearly as much love, excitement and uniqueness in the second.
However I borrowed the game from a friend and decided to download the Minerva’s Den DLC.
It was good. Damn good. It was Bioshock 1 good....

Carefree Days of Gaming
Some friends of mine recently told me that they were playing Pokemon Snap. This instantly brought me back to my younger days. It reminded me that I actually missed the days of waking up early in the morning to play a video game just because of how excited I was at the point I got to the night before.
A few moments of this that I can remember are in Banjo Kazooie and Ocarina of Time.
In Banjo...

Jukebox Wielding Enemies
Has anyone else ever noticed that in lots of games as soon as you hit a wave enemies some wicked cool music starts? Has anyone also noticed that when you kill the last one the music stops?
May I present to you the theory of Jukebox Wielding Enemies. I just watched my roommate clear a room of enemies in Uncharted 2 and when he finished brutally murdering the last enemy the music stopped,...

New Game Purchase
Just got back from EB Games, the place I go to feed my addiction, with a new game in my hands. I purchased Dead Space for 8 dollars. I’ve been looking for a copy of this game for a while and I’m very happy that I was able to find one for so cheap.
I was also going to grab Silent Hill: Homecoming, as that is another game I’ve been keeping my eyes on, but I decided that it...

– Christopher Nolan on the Inception video game.
I enjoyed the movie, it was fun for a summer movie and I await the video game with open arms. Now let’s just see if the game sucks or not and if it even gets made in the first place.

When people go out in droves and buy unfinished, glitch-ridden games like Red...
– An excellent opinion on glitches within video games from http://gamejournosblog.tumblr.com/.

Beginning to Question my Priorities...
I have an extremely important pitch tomorrow in my business class, I have to get up super early, my girlfriend is actually sleeping in the bed next to me but still I’m playing Mega Man with the television at near mute.

What I'm Playing Now - Week 1
I’m trying to keep things simple right now in terms of my gaming palette. I’ve beaten Mega Man 10 a couple times and I’m currently trying to farm the heck out of it before I attempt to grow the balls to try it on harder difficulties. I was lucky when I purchased it because I was able to snag it up during the ‘Canadian Black Friday’ sale on Live and got it for half...
